WW-Count your blessings

This week's Wordless Wednesday is shifting gears. The image below may not be for everyone. It's a photo of The Tunnel People. Those living underground who are now homeless. In light of yesterday's bombing and seeing where our country (US) is headed, we all need to count our blessings.

The Tunnel People -Deeper underground: Steven and Kathryn live in a 400sq ft 'bungalow' under Las Vegas which they have lovingly furnished with other people's castoffs.

The saddest part is the fact that authorities found dirty diapers in the areas near these tunnels. That must mean that babies were being raised in that kind of an environment.

Unfortunately, this kind of thing is happening all over the nation. In recent years, the tunnel people of Las Vegas have received quite a bit of publicity all over the world. It has been estimated that more than 1,000 people live in the massive network of flood tunnels under the city…

  4. Definitely makes me count my blessings. It's so sad that this great nation lets its own people down. No one should be forced to live in a flood tunnel!

  5. I've never been rich, but I've always had a roof over my head. Some people wouldn't live where I've lived, but you do what you have to when you have kids, and my kids turned out okay, so I guess it isn't the place, but the people. I didn't know how to follow you, so I added you to my circle on G+. Please consider following me. Free Ebook Search for Seniors

  9. Most certainly makes me count my blessings.

My 4 year old has been asking me questions about death. I told him that their memories will always stay with us. When he asked if just old people die, I was truthful. I wish just old people died. The 8 year old that passed away yesterday hits home. My oldest is almost 8. I hid the news from my kids yesterday. It's not like I won't talk to them if they ask questions. I just feel that it's hard enough for me to understand. Even the government doesn't have answers to many people's questions. It's all so sad!

  11. I never knew of their existence, and I find it terribly sad. But at the same time I am glad they are not living in a cardboard box in an alley somewhere, especially during the scorching summer. The homeless problem in the US is so appalling. I believe we should continue to help people in underprivileged countries, but we absolutely never do enough at home. The number of children now homeless makes me weep. Let's pray and try to do more in our communities for the humans. Janet

  17. I think it's great that you decided to post this. Not everything in our world is perfect and it's healthy for all of us to remember that. It's important to be aware of what is going on around us.
