Quick Homemade Vapor Rub
- 2 tsp beeswax (grated)
- 1/4 c. extra virgin olive oil-I used jojoba oil
- 25-35 drops peppermint essential oil
- 15 drops eucalyptus essential oil
- 10-15 drops rosemary essential oil
In an empty (sterilized bottle) Mix 25-35 drops of peppermint, 15 drops of eucalyptus and 10-15 drops of Rosemary. You are going to use 27 drops of this blend to the rub mixture for a 3% dilution. *Intended for adults only. *Check with a doctor if you have asthma.
For children 2 > use 1% dilution by adding 5 drops Frankincense and 4 drops Juniper Berry to the rub mix.
Continue whisking while adding the essential oils drop by drop. Transfer to a
small lidded container. Store in a cool, dry place for up to a year (or more).
Vapor Disc
-Baking soda(at least one box)-Water
-*Essential oils: eucalyptus, rosemary, and peppermint- 15 drops each
-Muffin tin (not for food)
-Muffin liners (optional)
Pour Baking soda in a bowl (not for food) and slowly add water. You want a very thick paste. Add 15 drops of each EO. Scoop into a muffin pan and let it settle for 1-2 days. I wrapped mine in wax paper and placed in the freezer. *DON'T BAKE!!!
I only made 1/3 muffin size to test. This does use A LOT of baking soda. I would place the disc in the back of the shower, away from the water. Close the door for added benefits.
They popped from the tin just like ice from a tray. The disc will not last the whole shower but the vapors will linger to open your sinus cavities to expel mucus.
*For kids 2> use Frankincense/Juniper blend posted above.
*Essential oils are flammable and each has a different Flash Point. Never heat EO's or add to a heated substance.

2014 Update
I discovered Ravensara think it makes a great addition to both recipes. Just add 10-15 drops.
