Beat the heat

Looking and feeling amazingly beautiful can be difficult but not impossible this summer.  Here are my 5 must have items to beat the heat.

I am sure you have seen the Marie Kondo folding method of linens/towels/clothes.  It's quite popular on Pinterest. Where do you find inspiration for projects?

Of course the new year brings about decluttering, organizing and resolutions. What have you tackled this new year?


I experimented with a few folding techniques. Keep in mind that everyone's closet space is different. 

This is method fits all our towels neatly in our narrow closet.

My family loves how neat and organized everything looks but isn't ready to commit. When you live with other people you learn how to compromise. I accept they won't fold and replace the towels in the same manner and that's ok.

 I have only recently heard of this concept. Seven years ago I started dabbing in DIY products. I found a youtube video by Naptural85 on flaxseed gel. I ditched that gel and created my own because it doesn't spoil as fast and goes a long way. 

Facebook is this amazing social media platform that connects you to your tribe, all around the world. I've meet some pretty amazing and empowering women these last few years. Along the way I found myself learning abtou the Curly Girl Method. There are many groups on this concept, some strict and some flexible. Join a few and you will get what I mean.

I recently found my tribe of curly ladies and they are where I was 7 years ago. Making flaxseed hair gel. So I decided let's give it a go again. I still have knee socks & flaxseed for the project.

I used the double boiler method using 10oz of distilled water and just under 1/3 cup of flaxseed. I let it cook for a good while. Keep stirring and you will see the magic happen.

The knee sock is for straining the goo from the seeds. Make sure you had a preservative. I added Germaben II at 1% of the recipe when it's cooled down.

I am not going to lie, this stuff is gross looking and feeling but there is no denying it's power to create soft & shiny curls.
